NEA Briefs

In this post I am going to choose my brief for my NEA and begin to come up with initial ideas for both my products. I am going to study the briefs and choose the most appropriate I am going to be making a mind map to demonstrate these ideas.

I am going to select the documentary brief because I am a fan already of BBC Three and love the content that they produce. Therefore, I recognise the needs that are required to appeal to and suit a BBC3 audience. In addition, as a consumer of BBC3, I am already knowledgable of the codes and conventions of documentaries for that client. For example, these documentaries have a strong focus on youth issues and social issues for the younger generation which I would make sure I included in my final product. In addition, I already have skills in IMovie- such as syncing soundtrack to content and controlling two different audio levels (the music and the actual content) However, I would like to develop my editing skills because even though I have had some experience at GCSE, this was only for a short 45 second trailer which would not even nearly meet the standard at A Level.

CONCLUSION

For my documentary, I want to explore the generation gap between the youth and the old- with the intention of figuring out whether the old are out of touch with the modern age. The focus of this documentary is within politics but as the client is BBC3, it would feature less political and more cultural elements such as technology. Even though there is an overarching theme of politics, the more fun elements will capture the motto of the BBC institution of inform, educate and entertain.
