INTERTEXTUALITY

In this Intertextuality research task I will be looking at how 2 documentaries (Jesy Nelson use intertextuality to appeal to a wide range of audiences.  I will also be highlighting what makes references in documentaries effective.

In conclusion, intertexuality is good because it can help illustrate to my audience information that is too complex to explain. For example, if I was to explain the concepts of synergy and intertexuality to a 10 year old they may not understand this complex media terminology. However, if I was to use art, sound and illustrations, like in the below Simpsons clip, these concepts become a lot clearer to understand. In my NEA, I would use intertexuality of social media to illustrate to the audience vast technological advancements and how politics has become increasingly influenced by the media- linking to my documentary topic because it could explain how the older generation may not be as wise as they believe. Social media in order to back up statistics and brands that old people but not young people will find familiar and vice versa will be effective to my target audience because it will illustrate the message I want to convey in my documentary- older generations are not as out of touch as one may think. Simlarly, alot of younger people are wiser than older people.
